Mike is the latest Strategist to join our growing team! He plays a huge part in identifying and understanding problems and then turning that information into strategies to meet the goals of our clients.
Here’s a little Q&A we did to get to know Mike!
Q: What are you passionate about?
A: I am passionate about design and solving problems. I come from a background in Industrial Design. I have worked on a wide range of products from medical devices to industrial equipment. Design is design, no matter what you do.
You need to understand the problem and sometimes you have to play detective in order to do so. That can mean observing a surgery firsthand, mocking up loading a weighted spool into a 3D printer, or simply working with a client to identify their business needs. I enjoy creating things that are purposeful, functional, and meaningful.
Q: What would you be doing if you weren't at your current job?
A: I am not sure what I would be doing, but here’s a list of things I would like to do in no specific order:
This one is actually first: become an astronaut, unfortunately, I am not that great at science and math but on the bright side I’ve already been to (fake) space camp as a kid.
Digging up dinosaurs and archaeological stuff, not limited to land only, I can get down with the “searching for sunken ships” thing too.
I have always wanted to start my own company. Who knows what I would do! Some things that interest me are alternative energy, recycling, and motorcycles.
Oh, and I always get jealous when I see a video of people that get to work with cool animals. Imarc’s dog friendly office is as close as I will get to living with a pack of giraffes (I googled it, I guess it is technically a “Tower”... now we know).
Q: Tell us a little bit about what sets you apart from your colleagues?
A: My background is a little different, I have designed physical products, from surgical devices to industrial equipment, and a lot in between. You are probably reading this and wondering just how physical design relates to digital.
Q: What’s the coolest thing about your job?
A: What really excites me is working to discover, and getting the data and insights that matter. I enjoy translating these abstract things into the foundation that something can be built upon. Working in a collaborative environment where creativity is key (almost as key as the dogs in the Imarc office) is where I like to be. I cannot wait to keep applying my passion for design, and creating purposeful, functional, and meaningful experiences. This time digital!
Thanks, Mike for letting us pry into what your life outside to Imarc looks like! We’re excited to see the projects that you’ll be a part of!
