Hailing from the far corners of… well, right down the street in Newburyport, Thijs has joined the Imarc team as a New Business Specialist. Thijs brings a diverse marketing background with experience in industries ranging from higher ed to data science to custom software to hotels and real estate, along with stints at fast-paced startups and demanding agencies. We are happy to have him on the team!
Let’s see what Thijs has to share!
Q: Where’s your favorite place in the world?
A: The beach at Sandy Point, Plum Island, located in Ipswich, MA, technically.
Q: What was the best concert you ever attended?
A: The first Lollapalooza in 1991. It was my first concert, when I was 15.
I may have been to better shows since, but there was something about the energy in the air and seeing Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, and the rest of the “alternative rock” bands that altered my perception forever.
Q: If the story of your life were a movie, what would the title be?
A: Hear My Train A Comin’. Not sure why. I like trains. And Jimi Hendrix. And it sounds pretty cool. Also, I'm a fan of apostrophes.
Q: How do you recharge?
A: I heave myself into the icy ocean waters of the North Shore of Massachusetts between the months of May and November. From December to April, I think about heaving myself into the ocean (unless I’m on St. John in the Virgin Islands, where I’ve lived and have visited often since I was a kid).
Q: If you had to choose only 3 adjectives to describe yourself, which would you choose?
A: Sturdy, functional, wistful.
Q: What movie or novel character do you most identify with?
A: Indiana Jones. Okay, I guess I identify with him more aspirationally.
Q: What’s been your favorite “unexpected” surprise working at Imarc?
A: The incredibly refreshing absence of ego, pretense, or bad vibes. The air quality and noise levels are always just right in the office.
Props to Thijs for sharing a little bit about himself! Interested in joining our team? Check out the positions we’re currently hiring for!
