The Digital Patient Experience

Healthcare sites are often used by individuals in distress; therefore, usability is a key factor. When thinking about users, a hospital’s website is more than a marketing site. The site needs to help users accomplish specific tasks and access the information quickly and easily.

To further AJH’s success, the site includes a carefully designed navigation, tools to find the right doctor, retrieve medical records, view classes and support groups, access payment information and retrieve directions.

The common thread among all of these tasks: a keen user experience using (UX) best practices.

Good UX should answer the following questions:

  • How are you bringing new patients through the door?
  • Are the hospital’s services front and center?
  • How consistent is the site’s user experience?
  • Does your site carefully and strategically place important links?

In many cases, a website is the first experience potential patients will have with a hospital. What may be common sense as a healthcare professional may not be so easy for an outside user.

Working with the AJH team, we were able to strategize the design of its new website. Imarc focused on the needs of its primary users to ensure a seamless and positive user journey.

In the end, we redesigned a site that satisfies both its users’ needs and fulfills its business objectives, serving AJH for years to come. The takeaway - if users can’t navigate a site easily to find what they’re looking for, the website won't succeed.
