The World Law Group (WLG) is one of the oldest and largest global networks of independent business law firms in the world. With 18,000 legal professionals spanning 57 member firms in 76 countries, WLG provides broad national and regional coverage with in-depth local market knowledge and contacts. WLG was looking for both a public-facing website to promote membership and a member portal to support member engagement and provide additional resources.
To support WLG as they look to increase the value of membership, Imarc designed and developed a new website to attract, educate, and engage current and potential members. The new site features valuable content and strong calls-to-action (CTAs) to learn about WLG’s member benefits and how to leverage them. Imarc also created a new member-only portal to demonstrate WLG’s continued focus on strengthening its network of member firms through innovative and economical technologies, efficient resource sharing, collaboration, and shared expertise.
Strategy and Planning
Creating a streamlined architecture
Imarc delivered wireframes and workflow diagrams for a more streamlined process and to ensure that the new site architecture drives membership and member engagement throughout the WLG network. Within the member portal, one of the focus points was to enable members to upload and submit content to WLG directly from their dashboard. The submitted content then goes through a review and approval process before it’s enabled on the website or included in the newsletter.
A modern user-centric experience
Imarc redesigned the site’s architecture and navigation to deliver a modern user-centric experience while also delivering exceptional value and ease-of-use to staff and administrators. According to WLG, the Member Firm Directory is the most important section on the site, and it needed to be more visible and user-friendly. Imarc solved this by creating a fixed bar directly under the navigation that allows users to search a firm by either jurisdiction or by firm name. Users are also able to see which firms have offices outside of their jurisdiction. Within the member dashboard, users can now view each firm’s membership in groups or committees, any upcoming events, and recent communications. It also allows WLG the ability to push alerts to the top of any member’s dashboard as needed.
An elevated design
To enhance the member experience by elevating each site’s visual look and feel, Imarc incorporated a clean and professional design that captures and highlights WLG’s membership benefits and value. Imarc’s creative team also designed custom iconography to support each of WLG’s Practice & Industry Groups and Committees, Forums & Programs in a visual manner – 23 in total. These icons will be used in newsletters and across other member communications.
A scaleable Craft CMS
To improve technical infrastructure, content management, and administrative efficiency for each site, Imarc’s engineering team built the site on the powerful Craft content management system (CMS). The Craft CMS helps to expedite site maintenance, reduce page load times, consolidate content, and is scalable to support WLG as the organization grows. Imarc also developed a number of custom Craft 3 CMS modules to allow the WLG team the most flexibility with managing assets and content to meet the client’s unique business requirements. For example, the website integrates with Cvent. This helps to increase registrations and engagement for WLG events by highlighting the benefits, sessions, and networking opportunities that each event provides.
